How do you like the new fred kodlin look for a 2020 M8 Street Bob? 23 x 7” rear wheel with Kodlin “Rigid-Style” fender
When Marco Lamprecht longtime customer of Kodlin Motorcycles called Fred to order 2 new Custom Harleys for himself and his wife, he had only two requirements:
- Use the Milwaukee 8 Street Bob model as a base for the builds
- Create something unique, that nobody has seen before
Well, the team at Fred Kodlin Motorcycles loves a challenge and they already played with the idea of installing the new Avon Chrome 23” 200/30 low profile rear tire on one of their next extreme custom bikes to give that tire the sort of European premier it deserves. Another first for Kodlin you’d think but they needed a rim to install it. Great to have world wide connections and they found the right design at their US wheel manufacture, responsible for the remarkable quality and finish of the Kodlin Performance Wheel line you have noticed in their recent fat front tire baggers. The rear wheel is a 23 x 7 and it has a matching partner in the 23” x 3.5 front wheel they used for both bikes.
“Love and Respect” are the name of these Street Bob custom bikes, that you would consider to be identical twins. There are some significant differences you will notice when looking closer at the bikes. “Respect” was treated with a serious engine upgrade. The Kodlin S&S 124” big bore monster they have been using on a lot of their builds. You can’t go wrong with engine displacement manufactured by the industries performance leader, finessed at the Kodlin Performance Center in Borken, Germany. “Respect” also features a rear air-ride suspension, the ultimate mark in combining look and riding quality, forward controls and a high Kodlin Flowbar.
“Love” is using the stock shock configuration with the award winning Kodlin Lowering-Kit, mid Controls and a standard Flowbar for great handling of the bike.
Both bikes are using the Kodlin M8 Softail Stretched Gas Tank, Kodlin Front Fender and Chin Spoiler, all made from the best steel you could get your hands on. To complete that look and the performance package, Kodlin installed their famous upswept performance exhaust on both bikes.
To compliment the extreme wheel, Kodlin designed a brand-new “Rigid-Style” fender that allows a minimalistic gap to the new Avon tire. They were looking for a new and improved method for the design that reduces the space between the seat and fender on these traditional looking rear ends. Also, the lengths of the swingarm and the gear ratio had to be adjusted to work with this larger size rear wheel. The result of these innovations left Marco and his wife Yvonne speechless.
